Pregnancy Photos: why do them?

Kim Campbell writes about the magic of pregnancy photos and why you should preserve this special moment in time.
The last two months of pregnancy are a magical time, and many women are adding “have my photo taken” onto their checklist of things to do before baby arrives.
For forty weeks a woman’s body is exploring new territory as her babe stretches her womb. This is transformation at its finest. For some women it may occur only once in her lifetime! At the end of pregnancy, she might wish her baby were here already, but after that babe is in her arms she may also feel nostalgia for the beautiful round curves of her pregnancy. As the journey to lose the baby pounds begins, one look at her pregnancy portrait reminds her of her ultra special role, mother!
At Campbell Salgado Studio we have helped pioneer this line of photography that is changing the way mothers and their partners remember their months of maternity. My son, now seven years old, loves to touch my pregnancy portrait and know that is where he started. He was attached to Mom’s uterus before her hip. I look at the same portrait and see that I was on the cusp of a new chapter of my life. It reminds me that life is beautiful.
