For Crying Out Loud
Date: Wed, July 15th 2009
Details:
This course is designed to give us a look inside ourselves to see why we want to stop crying and other child emotion when they arise. It’s an automatic response for most of us to distract babies when they cry (bounce, rock, shush, feed) and as they get older we often ignore or punish crying to get children to stop. As older children and adults have hurtful experiences we often try to fix the sadness or anger with a hug, “it’s ok”, “here this will make you feel better”, rather than simply listening. In this course we also look at the profound benefits of crying and expressing emotion when an understanding listener is with us. Get a glimpse of what is possible for you when you’re calm around emotion AND what’s possible for the children in your life as they’re given freedom to be. Then be supported as you take it home for practice.
Suggested donation is $10 per family but no payment is required.
