Thanks for the answers regarding my son’s napping. I wanted to follow up on a couple things and get some more of your opinions/thoughts:
So, he is taking 3 naps/day at this point. Most of them, he does not make it through that transition. He does for maybe 1 nap per day, and that one
is anywhere from 1 hour – 2.5 hours.
Unfortunately, he has been fussy during the day, and that is why I am concerned with all this sleep stuff. I should also mention that the 11 hours with 2 wakings for feeding is a new thing for him. Up until he was 13 weeks old, he would sleep 11 hours with only 1 waking for a feeding, so we are also very concerned about this new pattern, as sometimes he is even waking 3 times now.
The information on sleep regression is really interesting… we’ve already been through 3 weeks of this – does this mean 3 MORE weeks since he will be 16 weeks tomorrow???
I will try your tip on helping him through the transition. Thanks again.

Question regarding naps… My 16 week old son seems to always wake up from a nap after that 45 min mark, and can’t seem to get through that transition. Any tips on how to get him through this? I would prefer 1.5 – 2 hour naps, of course, so that he would get enough sleep (he goes from 7:30pm-6:30am with 2 feedings). He is swaddled, we’ve got a noise-maker and fan going, and he is in his crib in his room with the blinds drawn. We follow a similar routine for naps as we do for bedtime. What we have been doing when he wakes up is going in, picking him up and comforting him back to sleep and putting him back down. There are times when that works, and then times when he’ll wake 5-10 min later, and we are comforting him again.
Last resort, I will just keep holding him and sit in the chair in his room until he’s gotten a good nap. What can we do to get him to nap longer on his own in his crib?
