Are you questioning your work-family balance?

Personal Coach and mama Savannah Mayfield offers a review of a timely book that challenges mamas to think about the choices they make in their lives.
As a Personal Coach for women, I often work with clients who are navigating difficult decisions. How will having children affect my career? If I stay home when my kids are little, will I be satisfied? How can I communicate with my employer about getting the needs of my family met, including changing my schedule to spend more time at home? How can my partner and I really share household and childcare duties? What about the guilt that I feel, no matter what choice I make?
I am reading a fascinating book right now that speaks to all those questions and more. Flux: Women on Sex, Work, Love, Kids, and Life in a Half-Changed World by Peggy Orenstein draws on interviews with more than 200 women in their 20s, 30s and 40s about the choices they make in this world only “half-changed by feminism.”
Peppered with stories, intimate glimpses into personal lives and conversations with small groups of women, Flux asks the question: “If we really can have it all, why are women so conflicted?” I wrote a review of the book, you can read here.
If you would like to read and discuss this book with a small group of women, please contact me for more details.
